This collection of lessons begins with two units directed at helping teachers improve their instruction skills. The first unit includes a discussion of the purpose of exemplar lessons and the list of areas of study included in this
set. The introduction further describes website resources, how to use the 5E instruction model, eight essential practices of science and engineering, and the crucial POE (Predict, Observe, Explain) sequence for enhancing
understanding. The second unit provides additional instruction information for use with the exemplar lessons.
